A Mimic family as seen in No Heroes Allowed! VR.

The Mimic family is a group of Treasure Chest-based box monsters introduced in No Heroes Allowed!. They can take the form of chests with tongues and legs, or, in No Heroes Allowed! VR, chests with the shadow of a creature inside. They represent the trope of treasure chests containing monsters seen in numerous RPGs, taking the previous game's spawning monsters from chests literally.

The Mimic stands atop the food chain, eating even Dragons. They are slow, but have a strong bite. If a hero approaches, a Mimic will pretend to be a Treasure Chest and explode when opened; the power of this explosion is based on the nutrients it has consumed, capping at 80% of the hero's HP. They have a Pure Breed in the Chaste Chest, which can only be obtained through being splashed with holy water.

Mimics have a hero-affiliated counterpart in the Charming Chest, which appears when an Outbox consumes many monsters. When this happens, it will become active and begin devouring Badman's army.

In No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either!, Mimics are Level 3 red monsters; when combined, they produce Level 4 azure tiles, featuring monsters like the Mara. They have no special abilities, but the Charming Chest has the highest Attack of all monsters of its category, making it optimal in playthroughs for raw damage output.

The progression of a Mimic.

In No Heroes Allowed! VR, Mimics were completely reworked. They are obtained by shaking an empty Treasure Chest after receiving an item. There must be at least 20 Horde Power's worth of monsters alongside it, wherein the monsters are consumed and the Mimic is spawned. They will largely remain stationary in Treasure Chest form, waiting for heroes to open them, wherein they will attack ferociously. However, they can hop around occasionally, usually staying on the outer reaches of netherworld territory. Additionally, they can respond to Demonic Charges.

However, stronger Mimics are available, akin to runeborn monsters. These are obtained by mixing more monsters at the time of creating the Mimic, with the strongest being the Legendary Mimic, requiring 120 Horde Power. After being created, they can be fused into actual runeborn monsters.

The following table rationalises the Horde Power prices;

Horde Power required Mimic
20 Mimic
60 Rare Mimic
90 Quality Mimic
120 Legendary Mimic
